If you know me, you know I’m a big fan of subscription boxes but very few of them pass my test on whether or not they’re worth the investment. I decided to give Stitch Fix a try and I’m glad I did! It’s a fun experience having a personal stylist, especially if I have an event coming up!
How Stitch Fix works is you take a brief style quiz and enter the URLs for your Instagram and Pinterest profiles. Your personal stylist takes all this information and uses it to hand pick clothing items that match your style, budget, body shape and any other criteria you give them! My favorite feature is the paragraph you can write letting your stylist know if you are looking for something specific. For me, that was a brown cardigan. I’ve searched every store and I can’t find a cardigan that is the perfect shade of brown (not to camel, not to cream). This is also the place where you could tell them you have an important business meeting you need an outfit for or possibly a dress to wear to a wedding. The possibilities are endless and I truly believe no two boxes are going to look the same with Stitch Fix!
I’ve had a lot of you reach out to me and ask what Stitch Fix is and how it works so I’m going to share all the details below! 👇🏼
What is Stitch Fix
Stitch Fix is an online styling service for men, women and even the kiddos! You fill out your style profile and your personal stylist will pick out five pieces that match your style, much like I outlined above! When your box arrives, you are able to try on each item in the comfort of your home and even try pairing it with items you already have! You simply keep what you want and return the rest in a prepaid UPSP envelope.
How It Works
First you fill out your style profile. Be very detailed!! And remember, they don’t dig deep into your Pinterest profile, so go in there and pin a few recent items that are examples of what you’re looking for in your fix.
Second, you pick the date you want to receive your shipment. You can do this monthly, or only when you have a special occasion coming up! Shipping is always free, even for exchanges!
When you receive your box, you have three days to try on the items from the comfort of your home! You can try pairing them with clothes you already have and your stylist will give suggestions on how to wear each piece!
You’ll only be charged for the items you decide to keep and the $20 styling fee is applied to your purchase! If you decide to keep all the items in your fix, you will receive a 25% discount and if you don’t keep any of it, you’ll only be charged the $20 styling fee.
Lastly, you’ll leave feedback on your fix. This will help your stylist know what items you liked or didn’t like and why.
I’m not going to lie, I tried Stitch Fix back when I was in college before I started blogging (so of course I have no pictures to share of the items in my first box). When I first filled out my style profile, I was not very detailed and I linked my social profiles but I definitely didn’t pin current pins so my stylist didn’t have the best information for choosing styles for me. Unfortunately I didn’t buy anything in my first fix, but because a friend had given me a code for a free trial I didn’t have to pay the $20 styling fee either!
For my second fix, I was sure to update my Pinterest accordingly and give a detailed description of exactly what I was looking for. I told my stylist I was looking for some timeless pieces to help build a capsule wardrobe and I was especially needing a brown cardigan that was the perfect shade of true brown.
You guys! I was so impressed with my second box! My stylist said she spent extra time studying my Pinterest and Instagram and sent me the cutest items that perfectly matched my style and what I was looking for.
Here are the items I received:
A Floral Wrap Midi Skirt $58
A Blush Cable Knit Cowl Neck Sweater $68
Plaid Flannel Top $46
Stripped, Three-Quarter Sleeve Top $48
Brown Cable Detail Cardigan $48
If I purchase all the items in my fix, I will save 25% off and the total cost will only be $201!
I haven’t made my final decision yet on which items I’m keeping, but once I do I will update this post and let y’all know!
