When I first started seeing people post about Instant Pots, I thought it was just another fad that would pass quickly and I definitely didn’t think I would end up buying one. But here I am, a week into experimenting with my Instant Pot and there’s no going back for me. Ya’ll this thing is truly life changing! I guess I thought we wouldn’t really use it much because we hardly ever use our crock pot, and when it comes to storing small kitchen appliances we really have no space in our tiny kitchen. Taking all of these things into consideration I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad we did!
So you might be asking what is so special about the Instant Pot that makes me say it’s life changing. For starters, you can cook complex meals in no time at all, without standing in the kitchen to watch it cook, AND (my favorite part) you cook it all in ONE PAN! My favorite feature just might be the sauté setting because you can brown hamburger meat, sauté your veggies, etc. all in the pan before you add the other ingredients — hence, the one pan meal!
Our First Instant Pot Meal
The first recipe we tried was this baked ziti recipe, which if you’ve ever made baked ziti you know it takes several dishes (one to brown the meat, one to cook the pasta, one to bake it all…). I was able to make baked ziti in the Instant Pot, dirtying only one dish, in just around 30 minutes! Baked ziti has always been one of my favorite meals that we just don’t eat that often because who wants to cook a dinner using several pots and pans? I can confidently say we will be having baked ziti a lot more often now that we have our Instant Pot!
A few other meals we have tried in our first week include chicken and dumplings, chicken taco soup, and meat loaf with mashed potatoes! We have several other soups and one pot meals on our list to try including pot roast, philly cheese steak sandwiches, cheesy potato soup, beef stew, tuscan vegetable soup, chicken and gnocchi soup, and chicken pot pie soup!
I would say our first week with the Instant Pot was a success and we have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon! Do you have an Instant Pot? Do you have a favorite recipe? Please share them in the comments below!! Stay tuned for more of our Instant Pot successes!
